Get involved in one of our digs

Since 2002, the Trust has offered – in partnership with the Spadina Museum in Toronto – a summer day camp program in archaeology. Check the Toronto Parks and Recreation Department's Summer Fun Guide for details.

The camp program has been designed for children 10 to 14 years old. At our digs, children learn how to excavate, recognize soils, identify artifacts and participate in workshops geared toward understanding why archaeologists dig so carefully. The archaeological site is a recognized site; they will be working alongside professional archaeologists who supervise them in the field. Field trips, too, are occasionally planned. For instance, participants visited the Toronto Archives and Fort York in 2007.
