EVENT - Fulford Place Tearoom reopens May 23
Wednesday, May 23, 2012
The Fulford Place Tearoom opens for the summer season on Wednesday, May 23. Join us for a tour of the museum and visit our special exhibition on hats,
The Mode in Millinery 1899-1946. But save room for lunch.
This year, you’ll enjoy four menus that alternate weekly. So, you will want to come often to taste all the delicious options. Mouth-watering offerings include: butternut squash penne in a sage sauce with hazelnuts, pulled pork on a bun, Greek quiche and salad, a sandwich, a soup of the day, a special Fulford Place salad and cheesecakes, to name just a few. A full afternoon tea with fancy sandwiches, scones and jam and sweets will be available daily.
New operator Patricia Hart entered the hospitality business a few years ago after a stay-vacation with friends at Upper Canada Village. The cheesecake she made for the occasion was so well received that her friends encouraged her to sell them. The outcome was the birth of Hart’s business, Hailey’s Heavenly Cheesecakes, which has been featured at the Brockville Wine and Food Festival. As well as having cheesecake on the tearoom dessert menu, Hart will also take special orders with many flavours to choose from (with regular, low-fat, sugar-free, egg-free and gluten free options).
Fulford Place – a National Historic Site – is owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, an agency of the Government of Ontario, dedicated to identifying, preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario’s heritage.
