Local Marker Program

In addition to erecting provincial plaques, the Trust helps communities to initiate their own heritage marking projects.

Communities may wish to develop their own markers to commemorate a community figure, the founder of a local enterprise or an important event from the area's past. They may also want to draw attention to old churches, pioneer cemeteries, local examples of rare plants or other important subjects.

Community, non-profit and volunteer organizations can apply to the Trust for assistance with their own marking projects. When the Trust approves an application, it contributes to the cost of producing the marker, up to a set limit.
