Trails Open Ontario

Welcome to Trails Open Ontario 2012!

For six years now, Trails Open Ontario has been promoting trail use and education, natural heritage conservation and stewardship, and physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

Modelled after the successful Doors Open Ontario program, Trails Open Ontario provides an opportunity for all Ontarians to access and celebrate the remarkable trail systems that exist throughout the province. Among the province’s greatest treasures, trails comprise more than 88,000 km (54,680 miles) of walking, hiking and cycling opportunities throughout Ontario.

Starting this year, Trails Open hikes are being offered as part of several Doors Open events. Find out which Trails Open events are occuring during Doors Open 2012 events ...

Each tour is unique. Most involve hiking, but several include other activities, such as cycling or birdwatching. Similarly, while many cater to first-time trail users, others are intended for more experienced users. All of these events are open to the public and free of charge. Whatever you are looking for, there’s sure to be an event suited to you!

Special thanks to all of the Doors Open Ontario communities, trail organizations and volunteers that have contributed to this year's Trails Open Ontario program.
