Education and cultural heritage

Engaging young people and getting them involved in preserving our heritage is the goal of the Trust's Young Heritage Leaders program. The first-ever Ontario Heritage Intern Program supports young people who are studying heritage subjects to work with heritage professionals and make an effective transition to the workplace. We also bring young people to our unique heritage theatres to develop a greater appreciation of history, architecture and drama, and to experience live productions.

The Heritage Community Recognition Program honours individuals' achievements across Ontario in areas such as natural heritage conservation, restoration of heritage buildings, and local history.

Our cultural heritage is preserved and proudly marked on the familiar blue and gold provincial plaques throughout Ontario.

Doors Open Ontario is an annual community-based celebration of built and cultural heritage. Hundreds of thousands of local residents and visitors explore historic sites and spaces – many of which are not normally open to the public.
