Louis de Buade, Comte de Frontenac et de Palluau 1622-98

One of the most controversial and influential figures in Canadian history, Frontenac – as governor-general of New France – established a series of fortified fur-trading posts, including Fort Frontenac at the site of present-day Kingston.
