Susanna Moodie 1803-1885

The youngest of the Strickland sisters, Susanna Moodie settled with her husband on a wilderness property in the Lakefield area in 1834. After six years of unsuccessful farming, she and her family moved to Belleville where she concentrated on literary work. Her poems, articles, stories and novels, including Roughing It In The Bush, gained her a wide readership.
