Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too - Yogi Berra

As a tow-headed boy in 1977, I had the pleasure of attending my first Toronto Blue Jays baseball game with my father. To this day I recall the sounds, smells, and sights of Exhibition Stadium. From the program vendors yelling, “Programs, get your programs here!” to the smell of freshly roasted peanuts to the wide expanse of green turf peppered with Blue Jays and Tigers players, I was absolutely spellbound. Historians say that the first baseball game recorded in Canada was played in Beachville, Ontario on June 4, 1838, but to me, baseball started some 139 years later, when a boy and his dad enjoyed an afternoon at a Toronto ballpark.
