Heritage Week 2018 - Ontario Heritage Trust

Ontario Heritage Week 2018 – February 19 to 25

Toward a fair and just society

Heritage Week is an opportunity to celebrate our shared heritage – natural and cultural, tangible and intangible. This year, the Ontario Heritage Trust is exploring 100 years of women’s suffrage in Ontario – the women who led the movement, what it meant for those who became enfranchised and, crucially, what it meant for women still excluded.

In the current social and political climate, we are overwhelmed by stories and experiences of oppression, sexism, exclusion and inequality. But we find inspiration from the women who have led and are leading the charge and working to make things better for generations to come. These women are bold, sharp, insightful and witty – uniting us and making us optimistic for a better future. In 2018, the Trust will explore how we got here, how we are coping and, most importantly, where we are going next.

Let’s celebrate Heritage Week by highlighting Ontario’s trailblazing women.

Events across the province

The Trust is organizing events at some of its own sites during Heritage Week.

Communities across Ontario will also celebrate Heritage Week with their own special events and activities – ranging from exhibits, lectures and workshops to informal gatherings and tours.

We look forward to the celebrations!
