Founding of Point Edward, The

Originally reserved for use as a military base, Point Edward was made the western terminus on the Grand Trunk line from Rivière du Loup in 1859. Strategically located at the point where the St. Clair River flows out of Lake Huron, the village became an important point of transfer for both people and goods travelling east and west.
