Fulford Place hosts Great Gatsby fashion show: What they wore to roar

Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 1 p.m.

Get out your feathered headpieces and swankiest suit! Fulford Place presents Gatsby Garments: What They Wore to Roar, an intimate look back at authentic fashion pieces from the 1920s. Guests are encouraged to wear their finest threads as they experience the customs and costumes of the Roaring Twenties.

Cost: $20 per person (HST included)

Norma Shephard, founder and director of the Mobile Millinery Museum, will transport guests back in time with an up-close-and-personal look at the flapper gowns, Charleston shoes, vintage hats and other fashion artifacts that defined the era. Shephard has written several books on fashion history and is a regular contributor to North American magazines. She is also the recipient of the Canadian Achiever’s Award for entrepreneurship.

The fashion show starts at 1 p.m., but the Tearoom will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch reservations or Afternoon Tea before the show, as well as for dessert afterwards. To purchase tickets or make a reservation for the Tearoom, please call 613-498-3003.

Fulford Place – a National Historic Site – is owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, an agency of the Government of Ontario, dedicated to identifying, preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario’s heritage.
