Celebrate Heritage Week at Fulford Place

Visit Fulford Place during Heritage Week to celebrate Ontario’s rich and diverse heritage through a series of free talks and tours.Events include:
Monday, February 17, 10 a.m. – Hugh Halliday, military historian and former Curator of War Art at the Canadian War Museum, will talk about Canada’s contribution to the First World War and the history of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Tuesday, February 18, 10 a.m. – Lorraine Reoch will present From Quarrier’s to Canada, a real life narrative of four family members who were left orphaned in Scotland and sent to live in Canada as part of the relocation program known as British home children. From 1869 to the 1940s, over 100,000 orphaned and abandoned children arrived in Canada from Great Britain. Up to 70,000 settled in Ontario.
Wednesday, February, 19 10 a.m. – Gary Spicer, a Brockville native, will speak on the history of the city using bottles. Discover how Spicer assembled his bottle collection and the extraordinary stories they tell of Brockville’s past.
Thursday, February, 20 10 a.m. – Amanda Gray, Fulford Place Conservator, will talk about the recent restoration of renowned Canadian artist Suzor Coté’s Moonlight in the Woods in Winter.
Monday, February 17 to Sunday, February 23 – Enjoy a free tour of Fulford Place, Monday to Thursday at 1 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday all day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the last tour leaving at 3:10 p.m.
Fulford Place – a National Historic Site – is owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, an agency of the Government of Ontario dedicated to identifying, preserving, protecting and promoting Ontario’s heritage.
