Louise C. McKinney 1868-1931

Born and raised in Leeds County, McKinney moved to Alberta in 1903. She was a strong advocate of temperance and female suffrage, and with her election to the provincial legislature in 1917 became the first woman in the British Empire to gain a parliamentary seat.
