Printers' Strike of 1872, The

When the Toronto Typographical Union went on strike for a nine-hour workday in the spring of 1872, a crowd of 10,000 rallied in support at Queen's Park. This prompted Sir John A. Macdonald to introduce the Trade Union Act.
