David Allanson Jones 1836-1910

The first commercial beekeeper and breeder in Canada, Jones imported bees from Cyprus and Palestine (honey-bees are not native to North America) for the numerous apiaries on his farm at Clarksville. That community was renamed Beeton in 1874 in tribute to his flourishing enterprise.
