Sousatzka

Salles de théâtre Elgin et Winter Garden

From Saturday, February 25 to Sunday, April 9, 2017

Strictly limited engagement prior to Broadway

The world premiere of the new musical Sousatzka is based on the original novel Madame Sousatzka by Bernice Rubens. Set in 1982 London, Sousatzka tells the story of a young musical prodigy torn between two powerful women from vastly different worlds: his mother (a political refugee in a strange land) and his piano teacher (a brilliant eccentric with a shattered past). These two proud, iconoclastic women must ultimately cross cultural and racial divides to find common ground, or else put the boy’s bright future in jeopardy.

Sousatzka features a compelling fusion of South African, eastern European, classical, jazz and contemporary music. It is at once emotional, humourous, exhilarating and full of hope – while, at the same time, dealing with some of the most profound social and political issues confronting our lives today.

The show – directed by Adrian Noble – stars Tony Award® winner Victoria Clark and Tony Award® nominee Montego Glover, and is choreographed by 10-time Tony Award® nominee Graciela Daniele.

Tickets: $60 to $175
