Captain Miles Macdonell

After serving with the British forces during the American Revolution, Macdonell (c.1767-1828) took up farming in the Cornwall area. As Lord Selkirk's agent he led the first band of settlers to the Red River colony in present-day Manitoba. He subsequently returned to eastern Ontario.
