Louis Hémon 1880-1913

The author of the highly acclaimed novel Maria Chapdelaine, Hémon was born in France and came to Quebec in 1911. His fictional treatment of life in the backwoods of French Canada has been enjoyed by generations of readers. Hémon was killed by a train near Chapleau and is buried in a local cemetery.
