Major John Richardson 1796-1852

As a professional soldier in the British Army, Major Richardson, who was born in Queenston, served in Upper Canada and the West Indies. After relinquishing his sword for a pen in 1818, he published the epic poem Tecumseh and the historical novel Wacousta, works that immediately established his literary reputation.
