Right Honourable Lester Bowles Pearson 1897-1972, The

After a brilliant career in the diplomatic service, Pearson entered politics and from 1963 to 1968 was the prime minister of Canada. He was the first Canadian to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, which was awarded for his peace-making role in the Suez Crisis of 1956.
