Bruce Trail Conservancy Seed Orchard Project, Niagara Escarpment
Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC) volunteers and community groups established seed orchards: plantations of specifically selected native plants to stabilize the availability of native plants necessary for land management. These orchards provide mass production of genetically verified seeds for ongoing restoration projects in six of the nine major sections of the Bruce Trail, helping to secure the future of our biodiverse natural heritage in Ontario. The BTC maintains 6,500 hectares (16,000 acres) of land throughout the Niagara Escarpment.
