Dundas Turtle Watch, Dundas

The Dundas Turtle Watch is a volunteer-led conservation initiative dedicated to protecting turtle populations in Dundas, Ontario. Working with the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre and local partners for over 10 years, the group monitors, protects and relocates thousands of nesting sites, rescues injured turtles, increases hatchling survival rates and reduces road mortality. Their team currently includes 80 volunteers who monitor three main routes, take rescue calls and help protect nests and eggs. Through public education, community engagement and hands-on stewardship, Dundas Turtle Watch raises awareness about the importance of turtles to our province's natural heritage landscapes and inspires residents to help protect these at-risk species.
