Juliane Foronda (she/her)

Toronto, Ontario

Juliane Foronda is a Filipina-Canadian artist, writer and researcher whose work is invested in radical care, feminist hospitality and traditions of gathering. A significant aspect of her practice delves into archival and collections research, both within and outside the institution. Her investment in this work unfolds with her affinity for learning about what people choose to keep close and why, as well as how communities are built, maintained and preserved.

While at Fool's Paradise, Foronda will continue her ongoing research that is positioned within textile heritage and feminist theory, and that reimagines the politics and poetics of pockets by exploring their structural, functional, societal, historical and gendered dimensions. Her residency will include archival research in the Doris McCarthy Gallery archives. @juliforonda (Instagram) Website
