Madeleine McDowell has volunteered for over 55 yeas, giving talks and tours, and hosts annual events such as commemorating Vimy Ridge Day, and celebrating the Indigenous athlete Tom Longboat. Her boundless energy for all things heritage has made her renowned in Toronto’s Humber River Valley, and beyond.From protecting a 200-year-old black oak in Baby Point, to being a founder or active member of several heritage organizations, she has inspired generations to connect with the land and its hidden stories. Madeleine is a staunch supporter of sharing Indigenous histories and frequently works with Indigenous community members to amplify their voices in the conservation and celebration of local heritage.
