Making Home at 97 Victoria St. North, Kitchener

The Working Centre, with Perimeter Development and BNKC Architects Inc. transformed a formerly derelict 1927 warehouse into 44 transitional housing units, health and outreach, and St. John’s Kitchen. The project repaired the eye-catching multi-coloured brickwork, with structural additions contrasting and complementing the preserved heritage aspects like the buttressed façades. This project serves vulnerable populations while celebrating the physical characteristics found in the built heritage landscape of downtown Kitchener’s warehouse district serving as a leading example of heritage conservation and community impact working hand in hand.
